Research On Students' General Education Recognition And Its Influencing Factors In Local Comprehensive University

The local comprehensive university aims to cultivate compound applied talents.And compound applied talents cannot be cultivated without general education.The cognition of college students on general education is an important basis for colleges and universities to carry out general education.Therefore,it is of great significance to study students' recognition of general education in local comprehensive universities.However,there have been many studies on general education focusing on content definition,curriculum setting,etc...And less attention has been paid to the perspective of students,especially the study of cognition.This article discusses the problem of general education from the perspective of students and evaluates the implementation effect of general education through the students' recognition of general education.The “Students' General Education Recognition Questionnaire” was compiled by the author.The questionnaire consists of three parts.First part,cognitive status includes 49 dimensions.It is divided into three dimensions: overall cognition,value cognition and harvest cognition.Value cognition and harvest cognition divides into five evaluation aspects through exploratory factor analysis.Part two,influencing factors includes 12 items.Part three,individual background includes 3 items.This study takes the sophomore,third and fourth year undergraduates of L University as the survey subjects.The status quo and influencing factors of students' awareness of general education are surveyed based on questionnaires distributed in the field.Based on the above survey data,SPSS 24.0 statistical software was used to analyze the status of general education awareness.Using principal component analysis to obtain the influencing factors of students' general education awareness,establishing multiple regression model to explore the impact of various factors on students' general education awareness.The main conclusions of this paper:(1)The overall cognition of students is not high,the recognition of value is higher than the recognition of harvest,the recognition of the five evaluation from high to low are: social humanities literacy,innovation and values,organization and communication ability,art appreciation literacy,natural science literacy.(2)There is significant effect of different disciplines on the overall cognition variables,but there is no significant effect of different gender and grade.Among the gender variables,the overall recognition of girls is slightly higher than that of boys.There is a significant effect of different gender on the natural science literacy rating variables.Among the grade variables,the recognition of junior students has the lowest level.And there is a significant effect of different grade on social humanities literacy rating variables.Among the fields of disciplines variables,students' recognition from high to low are: social humanities,science and engineering,arts and physical education.And there are obvious effects of different disciplines on organizational communication ability,social humanities literacy,innovation and values,artistic appreciation literacy,the overall cognitive rating variables.(3)The impact of various factors on students' recognition of general education from high to low are: school management and curriculum,career and professional development,course teachers,fields of disciplines.Combined with the results of the investigation and analysis in this paper,four suggestions are put forward for the promotion of students' general education recognition in local comprehensive universities:“strengthen the propaganda of general education,perfect the management mechanism of general education”,“make clear the goal of general education course,set up reasonable general education curriculum system”,“correct teachers' teaching attitude and improve teachers' teaching methods”,“Stimulate students' subjective initiative,improve students' general engagement”.The above research can not only enrich the general education theory,but also provide relevant departments with information on current students' recognition of general education and provide practical basis for the reform of general education.
