Education of fine arts shall go beyond knowledge accumulation and skill training to vision cultivation so as to infill students with aspiration of promoting fine arts,the attitude of being critical,diligent and innovative,as well as the equipment of exploring future arts.The courses for public art education put forward in this paper is based on the most recent developments in arts field and the edging educational ideas in recent days for it is important that educators integrate the newest developments in education and their specific teaching fields.Being public and domain-featuring,public art allows students to learn in an easy atmosphere and,to some degree,almost through playing,helping students extend their mindset and develop aesthetic habits.Public art covers a relatively greater range of areas compared to other art categories,including artistics,politics,sociology,history and so on.Through art courses combined with regional resources,museums and digital courses,public art can cultivate in students the visual literacy and visual message perception needed in today's era of visual culture.This paper works to integrate Xuzhou local culture into a teaching method for public art that features problem-based learning and establish a scientific evaluation system so as to enrich fine arts education for primary school.The paper is divided into six parts.The first part is introduction containing the background,purposes and significance of this research,the status quo of the studies on public arts as well as the major contents and framework of this paper.The second chapter briefs on the definition,characteristics,functions and classifications of public art,defines the courses put forward in this paper,and points out that public art courses boast great significance in terms of aesthetics,education,culture and practice.The third chapter makes a research on both the theory and practice of public art courses under fine arts education in Xuzhou primary schools.The author,with the research purposes and methods clear,adopts both traditional and multimedia means to collect and analyse data so as to get prepared for the development of courses and evaluation system later on.After the analysis of accessible conditions,the feasibility of digging out more resources for public art courses is clear.Chapter four are course design and case development integrated with Xuzhoulocal culture based on problem-based learning,which works to avoid disadvantages and make better use of its advantages,so as to make it customized for Xuzhou students.Chapter five discusses on evaluation tools,mainly introducing self-evaluation methods for students at the third learning stage.Chapter six concludes the whole research,considers on limitations and proposes its own prospect for future studies.
