Jiang Menglin is the founder of modern higher education in China and the founder of modern higher education.He spent most of his life devoted to education.He studied in the United States for many years.He used advanced advanced higher education models and integrated Chinese traditional culture to form a unique theory of higher education.This article attempts to tease out Jiang Menglin's thoughts on higher education and concludes that the main contents of his higher education thoughts are: First,the "supreme academic" school-running idea;Second,insisting on the principle of "academic freedom";and thirdly,focusing on him.The idea of higher education management put forward by the educational policy of teaching scholarship,student education,staff management,and principal management.Jiang Menglin's higher education thought had a wide range of influence at that time,especially the reform of Peking University,which made it always in the “national academic center” status.It can thus be seen that his higher education thought has a profound influence on the development of modern higher education in China.It not only has theoretical significance in improving the academic level of universities,enhancing international competitiveness,but also cultivating people who are more in line with social core values and democratic management in universities.And it can serve as a practical reference for the reform of China's modern higher education system.
