In the 1995-2012 periods, the share of the number of antidumping cases from World to China has surpassed 20%. And among all the cases against China, the number of that from the United States is in second place. Besides, US is the second largest export market and trading partner country for China. Taking these into consideration, we can get that antidumping cases from the U.S to China can cause a major shock on Chinese exports, but the paper argues that compared to total trade amount, the impact of anti-dumping on the trade structure is more meaningful. Therefore, from two different angles in terms of commodity classification, this article investigates asymmetric U.S. anti-dumping destructive impacts on exports of various commodities from China by applying several methods, including statistical analysis and empirical analysis. And thus it will affect the trade structure.First, we use the industry classification from HS system, and select product data of antidumping cases from U.S. to China in the industries of chemical industry, base metals and electromechanical equipment in the years from 1995 to 2010. By utilizing SYS-GMM approach, we conclude that exports of goods involved in the U.S. antidumping actions against Chinas are inhibited in all three sectors. However, compared to the other two industries, export of electromechanical equipment from China suffers less shock from anti-dumping, and we can explain this phenomenon with the revealed comparative advantage.Secondly, we classify products according to their factor intensity; also we select product data, in the years from 1995 to 2010, of antidumping cases from U.S. to China in the three hardest hit sectors and make re-classification for them. By applying SYS-GMM method, we still find that the significant destruction impact of the U.S. anti-dumping on involved exports from China. Specifically, compared to resource-intensive and labor-intensive products which are of low technical level, the U.S. anti-dumping destructive impacts on their imports from China are less for the capital-intensive and technology-intensive products. Finally, we summarize all the research conclusions and make policy recommendations accordingly. This paper argues that when we take advantage of our comparative advantages, we should also actively cultivate the competitive advantages; implement the policy guidelines put forward in the 18th CPC National Congress to accelerate the transformation of economic development mode; improve anti-dumping legislations and responding mechanisms; actively promote negotiations and cooperation with the United States. The final goal is to reduce or avoid the trade destruction impact of anti-dumping.
