The Research On Imitative Innovation Path Of Business Model

In recent years, as the competition among enterprises is becoming fiercer than before, the business model innovation has been the focus of business and academic circles. The business model innovation stresses that enterprises adopt the unprecedented way to create value for customers and enterprises, it is disruptive. Meanwhile we find imitation innovation strategy can be used in business model innovation, and enterprises can achieve business model innovation through the imitation innovation at last. In theory, scholars pay more attention to the study of business model and imitative innovation, including the concept, characteristics of business model innovation and the concept, classification and importance of imitation innovation. But fewer papers mention the research on imitative innovation of business model, and they also ignore the research on imitative innovation path of business model.So the paper is based on business model and business model innovation theory, and combined with core competence. By using contrasting case, divide the imitative innovation activities of Tencent and Dangdang. By studying the similarities and differences of their imitative innovation path of business model, and construct the path of imitative innovation path of business model. Compared with the existing theory, the paper explains the deep reasons of different paths between Tencent and Dangdang, and talks about extension about the existing literature. Finally we draw the main conclusions as follows:(1) Not only can the technology innovation adopt the strategy of imitative innovation, but also can the business model innovation adopt the imitative innovation strategy. (2) The imitative innovation path of business model not only can take example by imitative innovation path of technology innovation, but also can deepen and expand the concept of imitative innovation path of technology innovation. (3)The core competence plays an important role in the process of the imitative innovation of business model.The paper can answer the questions about that if the imitative innovation of business model can take example by the existing path of imitative innovation of the technology innovation and how to carry on the imitative innovation of business model better. The paper also discovers that the core competence plays an important role in the process of imitative innovation of business model through studying the existing literature and contrast cases. In addition, according to the study of path, it can help later comer firms to achieve business model innovation better, and guide the direction of the enterprise strategy. So the paper has much theoretical and practical significance.
