With the rapid development of computer and network technology, online training occupies an increasingly important position. Because the traditional training course is not convenient for interaction and sharing, and constrained by time and space, participants always couldn't get effective training in time, the training efficiency is extremely low.Considering the quickly development of the aviation industry and the complexity of aircraft structure, having a real-time and efficient training is more important to the aircraft maintenance engineers. Therefore,a virtual maintenance training system is proposed based on the SCORM standards. Using application programming interface(API) provided by the SCORM, interacting with learning management system(LMS) was realized; Tracking and recording learning information of students, personalized learning was realized to inspire the learning interests of students. Three-dimensional virtual of maintenance environment were created by using virtual simulation technology for maintenance engineers, which could show real machine scene vividly and visually. Three-dimensional vision of complex hidden region of aero-engine could be indicated, as well as simulate the working principle of key systems, which gives an immersive learning experience to students. For the construction of virtual maintenance training system, the main researches of the paper are as follows:(1) The virtual maintenance training system architecture was built. The analysis of the system was done and overall function modules of the system was established, which includes learning modules, training modules and assessment modules; The specific solutions, techniques route and realization of the overall system framework were presented;The learning management platform based on SCORM and its features was introduced.(2) A three-dimensional simulation model was established and lightweight technology was proposed. Using the virtual simulation technique to build three-dimensional simulation model and simulate the operating process of the assembly and disassembly of the starter, the working principle of the air systems and valves. The lightweight of three dimensional simulation model was realized by using the technique of VRML. To realize fast networktransfer of learning content, several effective methods of lightweight were proposed.(3) A virtual maintenance training system based on SCORM was designed and realized.Firstly, it introduces SCORM standards and architecture briefly; Secondly, it designs shareable content objects(SCO). The methods to implement SCO were proposed at the same time; Thirdly, it elaborates the basic principles of communication and implementation process between SCO and LMS, and the realization of tracking and recording learning content; Forth, the designing methods of sequencing and navigation were proposed. Finally,the building process of virtual maintenance training system based on SCORM standards and platform operation was elucidated, and the system was tested and ported by using the ADL official SCORM standards conformance test platform.
