Objective:Stemmacantha carthamoides(Willd.)Dittrich is belong to Compositae.It is only distributed in the northwest region of Xinjiang.Stemmacantha carthamoides has the efficacy of enhancing brain,attending loss of appetite and neurasthenia.In our country folk Stemmacantha carthamoides is also used for the treatment of senile dysfunction,impotence,lack of body and cardiovascular disease as a strong agent.The main component of Stemmacantha carthamoides contains plant Ketosteroid compounds,flavonoids and phenolic compounds.In this paper,the chemical constituents were isolated by ultrasonic extraction using methanol from Stemmacantha carthamoides and the structures were characterized by NMR.The Extraction method and the content of Beta ecdysterone in the Stemmacantha carthamoides were investigated and measured.Methods : Using separation methods such as TLC,silica gel column chromatography,ODS column chromatography,preparation of high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)and recrystallization,Eighteen compounds were isolated and eight compounds structures have been characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)and the physical and chemical properties.Using high performance liquid chromatography,the main active ingredient content of Beta ecdysterone in the Stemmacantha carthamoides were measured.Results: The isolated eight compounds were makisterone C,beta-ecdysterone,ajugasterone C,3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid,Quercetin-3-methyl ether,(7S,8s)-Syringoylglycerol,(E)-3,7-dimethyl-1-O-[alpha-L-arabinofuranosyl-(1,6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl]-oct-2-en-7-ol and Polypodine B.The content determination results showed that the sample size was between 0.0702-0.5616?g,the sample volume as the transverse coordinate,the peak area as the vertical coordinate,and the linear relationship were good.The linear equation is y=27468x-4040,r=0.999,and the recovery is 100.46%.Conclusions: The compounds(6)and(7)were isolated from the plant for the first time.The experiment determinated the content of the main active ingredient beta ecdysterone in Stemmacantha carthamoides by High performance liquid chromatography(HPLC),The method is accurate,reliable,reproducible,simple and easy to operate,and the measured results can play a guiding role.Finally,the paper summarized the status of Stemmacantha and Radixechinopsis which is similar to the Stemmacantha.
