The pre Qin period is the source of the development of ancient Chinese in China,a study on the auxiliary verbs in the pre Qin Period,can help to clarify the context and branch of the development of auxiliary verbs.This paper selects The Mencius as the corpus of the pre Qin Dynasty model,and strive to provide some information for the development and evolution of the auxiliary verbs in pre Qin and even the whole auxiliary verbs,through the summary and analysis of the auxiliary verb system of"Meng Zi".This paper is divided into four parts:The first part,introduction.First,summarizing and expounding Mencius and the book of The Mencius.The Mencius reflects vividly the language style of the Warring States period,and is the origin of two thousand years of written language of China,and is a valuable corpus of ancient Chinese studies.Second,summarize the current situation of the study of the auxiliary verbs,and to investigate its name,part of speech,classification standard,and the nature of the auxiliary verb+VP.Focus on the study,is to result the review of the pre Qin auxiliary verbs,and to lay the foundation for the study of this paper.Third,based on the previous research,we put forward the criteria of auxiliaries of my paper.The second part,do the classifications research of The Mencius auxiliary verbs.These are divided into the auxiliary verbs for possibility 6:ke(?)?keyi(??)?neng(?)?de(?)?zu(?)?zuyi(??);The auxiliary verbs for wish 5:gan(?)?ren(?)?yu(?)?yuan(?)?xie(?);The auxiliary for ought to do 2:dang(?)?yi(?):To classify detaily for the syntactic structure,semantics and pragmatics of each auxiliary verb by the exhaustive statistics and inductive analysis method,and analyzing the auxiliary verbs by some examples.And the general situation of the auxiliary verb system of The Mencius is revealed clearly.The third part,do the comparative study of the auxiliary verbs in The Mencius.To begin with,compare and analyze the semantic and pragmatic with similarities of the auxiliary verb groups,and summing up the similarities and differences.Next,to do a general comparison of the three major types of auxiliary verbs in The Mencius,and finding the auxiliary verbs for possibility have the highest frequency,and the frequency of appearing of the auxiliary verbs for ought to is the lowest.Finally,do the comparison of The Mencius auxiliary verb and the same age and the future generations of works.Compare The Mencius auxiliary verbs with other works in the pre Qin period:we find that the development of auxiliary verbs for possibility is the most full,and the occurrence frequency of ke(?)and neng(?)is the highest;The development of auxiliary verbs for wish is basically mature,and the occurrence frequency of yu(?)and gan(?)is the highest;The auxiliary verbs for ought to do is the least.Compare The Mencius auxiliary verbs with the auxiliary verbs in the middle ancient times:The proportion of auxiliary verb for possibility is still the highest,ke(?)and kan(?)disappear gradually.The development of yur(?)in the auxiliary verb for wish is more mature.The auxiliary verbs for ought to do develop very fast.Not only appearing new auxiliary verbs,but the increasing in frequency is rapid.The last part,the conclusion.Summarize the paper.The auxiliary verb system is an organic whole;they are closely connected with,as well as differentiated from each other.In the course of its development,there are new and die vocabularies,and reflect the "simplification and manifoldness of run parallel" principle.
