To explore the influence of parenting style on learning motivation of middle schoo 1 students, using the methods of combining empirical research and qualitative research , the empirical study uses the questionnaire method, a questionnaire of family rearing pattern (EMBU) and learning motivation test (MAAT), the questionnaire survey was conducted among 736 students of a middle school in Nanjing city from first grade junior students to three grade senior students. This the sis discusse the influence of parenting style on learning motivation of middle school students. The results showed that: ? the subjects in the way of family education in gender, educati on level, and occupation of parents are significantly different; ?the learning motivati on is significant different according to participants' sex and grade;?parenting style a nd learning motivation of different grade subjects are significantly related in part of fa ctors;?family rearing patterns predicts some part of scenes of the subjects' motivatio n. Qualitative research uses case analysis method, through the two psychological counseling interviews, to understand their parenting style and learning motivation mo del, found the individual ways of family education had influence on learning motivati on, and verify the results of a questionnaire survey.
