Chinese-English Coping Strategies In Chinese-English Interpretation

Chinglish is a misshapen,hybrid language that is delivered by Chinese people but is unaccepted by native English speakers.Chinglish may generate misunderstanding and even disputes in cross-cultural communication;therefore,it is imperative to explore the ways of combating Chinglish.Chinglish manifests itself in lexical and syntactical levels,including redundant words,synonyms in pairs,missing or erroneous linkers,dangling modifiers,improper parallel structures,and misplaced phrases and clauses.The paper observes that Chinglish is the result of cultural and linguistic differences between Chinese and English,and at the same time it presents potential solutions from simplifying to achieving uniformity.By outlining the causes and the manifestations of Chinglish as well as its solutions,the paper can serve as references for interpreters in avoiding Chinglish in Chinese-English consecutive interpretation.
