With the continuous development of global economy and increasing trade between China and foreign countries, the consecutive interpretation plays a more and more important role in our life. As a major mode of interpretation, consecutive interpretation has been widely used on such occasions as speeches and meetings. In the process of consecutive interpretation, we will inevitably encounter some difficulties. For example, the interpreter is not used to the delivery of the speaker and may find difficulties in interpreting complex sentences. This simulation consecutive interpreting practice chooses three speeches that the foreign ministry spokesman made in the Lanting Form, under the guidance of interpretive theory, mainly studies syntax conversion and long difficult sentence translation issues which affect the quality of interpretation. Because Chinese and English belong to two different language families, Chinese emphasizes “parataxis”, while English emphasizes “hypotaxis”. In the process of interpretation, we can not just translate word for word or sentence for sentence instead we can use complementary translation and translation conversion to syntactic differences. For the long and difficult sentences, immediately is the characteristic of the interpretation, interpreters does not have enough time to analyze long sentences, so interpreters can use the method of sentence restructuring to reduce the difficulty of translating the long and difficult sentences.Through this simulation consecutive interpreting practice, the interpreter has realized that the importance of the preparation before interpreting and the syntactic differences between English and Chinese. In the process of interpreting, the interpreter should adopt the flexible methods from different perspectives to solve the problems. At the same time, it is also hoped that the conclusion of the report can be useful to other translators.
