English-Chinese translation is an important means of cultural exchange among countries.Higher education,as an important part of culture,has attracted more and more attention from all over the world.The scientific and advanced American higher education is particularly favored by many countries,and many translation works related to American higher education have also been published.In this paper,the author chooses chapter 8 and chapter 9 of Higher Education in America written by Derek Bok,which was published in 2015,to learn about America higher education systems and to study the linguistic features and writing style of educational academic works by analyzing the text and summarize the problems of translation and their translation strategies.In the process of translation,the author found and summarized several language phenomena and difficulties in translation: the conversion of part of speech,the definition of words' meaning in the educational context,the translation of apposition and formal subject,the importance of context and the adjustment of the word order and the use of different translation methods to solve these problems.The aim of this translation project is to learn about the basic conditions of American higher education,and at the same time,the thesis strives to analyze and solve the problems of translation in the text,summarize the textual characteristics of educational works,and accumulate valuable experience for future translation practice.
