With the diversity of English teaching models,the testing of language ability is ever changing.Context teaching and comprehensive evaluation theory should keep pace with the times and find out the correct research methods and approaches in the reform of English teaching.Therefore,The translator selected the Chapter 8 of the book Assessing Language Ability in the Classroom as the source text.The translation is helpful to the research in the field of language testing,and promotes the development of Chinese linguistics from translation reference to independent study.In the source text,the language is formal with a lot of professional terms,the subordinate relationship between sentences is clear,and the narration is objective and accurate,logical,natural and coherent.Therefore,in view of the above characteristics of the text,the translator analyzes and induces the translation of academic vocabulary,the translation of adverbial participle structure and the cohesive skills of the text.It can be used as a reference for future translation related to language testing.
