An Empirical Study On The Comparison Of Two-syllable Hanyue Words With Their Corresponding Chinese Words

Sino-Vietnamese words(T? Hán Vi?t)are the crystallization of cultural exchanges between China and Vietnam.They have always been the focus of the two scholars.Chinese and Vietnamese scholars have studied all aspects of Sino-Vietnamese words,and their research results are very rich.There are many studies on the double syllable Sino-Vietnamese words,and they are mainly concentrated on the contrastive aspects of the word meanings of the double syllable Sino-Vietnamese words and their corresponding Chinese words,however there are few studies on the contrastive study of the words of the double syllable Sino-Vietnamese and their corresponding Chinese word.Besides,some existing researches about word class contrast pay more attention to qualitative analysis and lack quantitative statistics of their number.This thesis is a preliminary attempt by combining the quantitative statistics and the qualitative analysis of double syllable Sino-Vietnamese words and its Chinese words on the basis of the previous studies,which is also a new trend in the further Sino-Vietnamese words studies.This paper takes the two dictionaries: the 2011 edition of modern Vietnamese Dictionary(Da Nang Publishing House)and 2012 edition of modern Chinese Dictionary(Commercial Press)as the corpus to investigate the word classes of the double syllableSino-Vietnamese words and its corresponding Chinese words.Through data statistics,It can be found that there are 40553 entries in vietnamese dictionary(45850 items is labeled),of which the double syllable Sino-Vietnamese is 12882,accounting for 31.8% of the total number of the dictionaries,and the number of Chinese words corresponding to Chinese in Chinese Dictionary(2012)is 7684,accounting for 18.9% the whole dictionary.In the double syllable Sino-Vietnamese words,the number of nouns,verbs and adjectives is the most,some only have one word class and some are lexemes.In comparison with the corresponding Chinese words,it can be found that the translation of nouns,verbs and adjectives between the double syllable Sino-Vietnamese words is very active.The study is beneficial to the Chinese and Vietnamese people to learn the language of each other.And the most important thing is to be able to use other's language more accurately and reduce the misuses,besides,it is conducive to the compilations and researches of the Chinese and Vietnamese bilingual dictionaries,and it can be provide guidance for the Vietnamese teaching,the Vietnamese translations and the researches.
