There are a large amount of Sino-Vietnamese words in Vietnamese language. Except for a few of Sino-Vietnamese words which lead to Vietnamese students a positive influence, the remaining large amounts of Sino-Vietnamese words have been assimilated and transformed, to the point that some Sino-Vietnamese words no longer have corresponding words and expression within the Chinese Lexicon, and confer troubles to Vietnamese students. Owing to the different educational backgrounds, study methods and learning environment of Vietnamese students learning Chinese, the effects of Sino-Vietnamese words are of various. The author finds this phenomenon of great curiosity, and attempts to obtain a conclusion through investigation, enumeration and analysis.This thesis firstly demarcates Sino-Vietnamese words and related concepts, reviews the investigative situation of Sino-Vietnamese words in China and Vietnam; secondly, to carry out investigations of the similarities and differences between Sino-Vietnamese words and related Chinese words and expressions; then, according to the differences Chinese levels, native language, language environment, comparative use of Sino-Vietnamese pronunciation etc, carry out investigations, enumeration and analysis, and then discusses the effects of Sino-Vietnamese words for Vietnamese students; lastly, this thesis analyses the problems which Vietnamese students will come across while studying Chinese and introduces the error preventions and corrections.This article believes, the technique of Vietnamese students using the literal translation of Sino-Vietnamese words as Chinese words, through the comparisons of Sino-Vietnamese translations distinguish the definitions of words, find suitable words and expression is not a method worth promoting, rather determining word definitions and cognitive word meanings from the foundation of the structure of words and expressions produces better results; This article doubts Barry P.Taylor's suggestion of along with the enhances of language standards increase intralingual transfer and decrease interlingual transfer, which appears to question theories approved by numerous scholars, and the application of this conclusion to Vietnamese students is clearly not very suitable; The results of this articles investigation have also confirmed that the effects of first languages on Vietnamese Chinese learners are beyond any doubt higher than the widely acknowledged 33%.
