On The Construction Of The Image Of Contemporary China In African Countries

National image is an overall evaluation and recognition of a country's national condition by the international community,a symbolization of its strength and ethos,and its most vital intangible assets.Good national image contributes to obtaining understanding and trust from other countries,broadening a country's participation in international affairs and achieving its external strategic goals.Accordingly,many countries have increasingly attached great importance to building a good national image.China has always maintained a good relationship with Tanzania.Ever since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries,the Sino-Tanzania relationship has developed healthily and successfully over half a century.As time goes by,the relationship grows firmer and presents an unprecedently pleasant developing trend.As the traditional strategic alliance of China,Tanzania is a vital arena for China to expand international influence and build a responsible and powerful national image with peaceful development.China's good national image in Tanzania will promote the healthy development of Sino-Tanzania relationship as well as playing a demonstrative and leading role in developing Sino-African relationship.Meanwhile,there still exist some downside voices.Some misconduct of Chinese enterprises and individuals has arisen resentment from local people.The instigation of western media has also exerted a negative influence on China's national image.In this context,it becomes necessary to investigate how to improve China's national image in Tanzania.This thesis sets to analyze China's present national image in Tanzania,pointing out existing problems and challenges,defining factors that influence the construction of China's national image and discuss corresponding strategies for improvement,providing references for improving China's national image and promoting further development of Sino-Tanzania relationship.
