Southeast Asia has been playing an important role in Japan's postwar foreign policy.Japan's Southeast Asia policy has adjusted according to international situation and its foreign strategy,such as from the early compensation diplomacy to the economic diplomacy,from "Fukuda doctrine" to "Hasimoto doctrine”,and then to today's “Abe doctrine”.Based on a brief review of Japan's foreign policy in Southeast Asia after the cold war,this thesis focuses on analyzing the adjustments of Japan's Southeast Asian foreign policy after Abe took office,including political,economic,security,cultural exchanges,etc.This thesis is mainly divided into three parts.The first chapter analyzes the adjustments of Japan's Southeast Asian foreign policy after Abe took office,including changes in political,economic and security fields,after an overall review of Japan's foreign policy to ASEAN after the cold war.The second chapter explores the backgrounds and reasons for the adjustments of Abe's Southeast Asia policy,and elaborate on the implementation concept and its characteristics comparing to previous foreign policy.The main purpose of Abe's Southeast Asia policy is further discussed.The final part evaluates Abe's Southeast Asia policy,including the favorable conditions,the possible challenges,its limitations,and the possible negative impacts on China.
