The Evolution, Dilemma And Outlet Of The Concept Of Political Culture

The concept of political culture is one of the most common and controversial concepts in contemporary western political science.It is also one of the controversial concepts in political science in our country.Academics have historically conducted political culture studies by using empirical methods or criteria,seldom used concepts effectively,and for a long time did not realize that empirical approaches and standards relied to a large extent on concepts and thus weakened its explanatory power.This article attempts to quote and analyze the criticisms of the empirical methods of political culture research from a conceptual perspective.The concept of subjectivism used in the study of political culture has progressed from political culture to social capital to values,but it is still difficult to observe or determine,so that it cannot get rid of dependence on empirical research methods.Applying these concepts to the study of political culture makes it difficult to provide compelling causal or other deterministic explanations,and they also exist on how to motivate individual actions and how to maintain continuity or change in the way people act Limitations,so conceptual construction is inevitable.Whether it is a wide-ranging quantitative study from Inglehart or a more specialized case study conducted by Putnam,none of the evidence from the study of political culture addresses conceptual issues.From the point of view of political culture studies,if important conceptual problems are solved,it may be an evolution from a theory that is fully supported by experience to a less experienced one.Therefore,if the study of political culture can build a well-constructed concept as a support for empirical research,with relevant and convincing explanations,it will have greater value.This thesis is divided into three parts,that is,the evolution of the concept of political culture,the difficulties encountered and prospects for development.The first part mainly expounds the evolution of the concept of political culture.The concept of political culture as a particular concept of modern political science,its origins,formally proposed and later Almond,P ye,Verbatim,Huntington,P utnam,Inglehart and many other scholars has done lots of things on its supplement,complement and development.After that,it elaborates on the five opinions that Chinese academia has on the representativeness and typicality of political culture and comments on it.The second part of the main contents: If a theory does not solve the internal conceptual problem,it may contradict or obscure the mechanism of interpretation;if the external conceptual problem is not so lved,it may neglect the basic cognitive and conceptual borrowing of the related research tradition Innovation.In this section,I attempt to quote and analyze the critiques of the empirical methods of political culture research from a conceptual perspective.In the third part,due to the predicament faced by the concept of political culture,many scholars try to make up for some deficiencies and defects in the concept of political culture,such as Putnam.In this part,various theoretical attempts to break the predicament of the concept of political culture are discussed and analyzed and I try to put forward some of my own suggestions.
