An Analysis Of The Diplomatic Strategy Of The United States To Weaken British Hegemony (1919-1945)

One of the most important history things in 20^th century is a global power shift between the UK and the US.However,the process of this shift is not like the prediction of Thucydides'trap that there will be a war between the hegemony and the emerging country.They stood in one side in two world wars in 20^th century.The harmonious surface cannot cover the conflict between these two countries.In Paris Peace Conference,the US had presented its challenge.After that,issues of international trade and finance,war debts and peace,all became the battlefield of these two countries.Through the free trade,the internationalization of the US dollar and debts leverage,the US eroded the hegemony of the UK.Meantime,both as the capitalist country,they expanded their market and plunder raw materials.In different parts of the world,they grinded against each other.After 20 years,the US defeated the UK.This article has five parts:the first part is the belief of hegemony of the UK and the expansion history and target of the US;the second part is the US'strategy to weaken the UK in financial field;the third part is the US'strategy to weaken the UK in military field;the forth part is the US'strategy to weaken the UK in sphere of influence;the fifth part is the conclusion and enlightenment.I believe that all these researches will help people deepen the understanding of the rise of the US and the collapse of the British empire,realize the undercurrent below the surface and deepen the understanding of the foreign policy of today's US.
