A great number of rural labor forces went out to work because of the reform and opening-up policy in 1980s, which as a consequence, a mass of rural children were left home, taken care of by other guardians, and therefore called left-behind children. The increasing number of left-behind children caught extensive concern of our nation and society. Some experts and scholars did some researches on left-behind children and the studies showed that the main problems of left-behind children were security?physical and mental health?personality and academic performance. Some experts took advantage of sports and psychological interventions, which did good to left-behind children's psychological health. On this study, according to the establishment of this intervention model, the author aims to make the left-behind children cultivate exercise habits, thus affected their mental and physical health and academic performance as well. This experiment was based on a research for 12 weeks of Chong Zhou Liao Jia primary school.Consequences:(1) Intervention on cultivation of exercise habit of left-behind children in Liaojia primary school showed:there was an obvious improvement on children's cognition?attitude toward exercise?and frequency and time in exercise, indicated that intervention made a difference in left-behind children's exercise habits.(2) Intervention on mental health of left-behind children in Liaojia primary school showed:the boys tended to be more sensitive?impulsive and were easy to get high marks. Nevertheless, girls were more desolate and sensitive. As a result, intervention made a positive influence on the development of left-behind children's mental health.(3) Intervention on physical health and academic performance of left-behind children in Liaojia primary school showed:after intervention, compared with the control group, there was a significant difference in experimental group boys on 50m race?sit-and-reach and vital capacity, so as to the girls on 50m race?sit-and-reach and one-minute rope skipping. This study indicated that although it took left-behind children a little time to exercise, it did not delay their learning. On the contrary, intervention played an active role also.
