A cross sectional design is used to evaluate the effects of mathematics experiment. In this study, we select an experimental group and a control group as subjects. The interaction effects between mathematics experiment, gender and the students' levels are also examined.In the view of mathematics ability, we design several problems to test the students' ability to analyze the mathematics experiment's effects on their ability. There are 365 students from Yancheng and Nanjing. In the view of emotions and attitudes:according to item analysis, exploratory factor and confirmatory factor analysis, we use questionnaire designed by ourselves to analyze the mathematics experiment's effects on students' attitudes towards mathematics learning. The 529 participants also come from Yancheng and Nanjing. In the view of acceptance of mathematics experiment:348 students are surveyed to analyze the degrees of acceptance by another self-designed questionnaire. The conclusions drawn from this study are as follows:(1)Mathematics experiment has significant effects on the plausible inference, transferring, spatial concepts and the final scores. Mathematics experiment significantly influences problem solving ability.(2)There exist interaction effects on students' ability between mathematics experiment and students'levels. For the students with high and middle levels, the experimental group scored significantly higher than the control group. For the low level students, mathematics experiment has no significant effects on the students' score.(3) There exist interaction effects between mathematics experiment, students' levels and gender. For the girl students, mathematics experiment has significant effects on students with high and middle levels. For the boy students, mathematics experiment has significant effects on students with middle levels. On the whole, mathematics experiment helps high and middle levels girls a lot, while helps middle levels boys a lot.(4) Mathematics experiment significantly influences students' confidence, sense of value and the final scores of attitudes questionnaire, not influencing their interest.(5)The students of the experimental group have positive attitudes toward mathematics experiment; they think it is helpful for their learning. They are interested in the experimental activities and take part in them actively.From this study, we can conclude that the reliability and validity of the self-designed questionnaires the questionnaire are both good, and can be used as tools for further investigation; mathematics experiment helps foster students' mathematics ability and their emotion and attitude; students are positive about mathematics experiment.
