Research On Social Work Supervision And Localization In Guangzhou

Social work in China has strong exotic characteristics,which is a new "exotic" thing from overseas more than ten years ago.Social work supervision is to raise the level of social workers and the quality of service,which is an activity of guidance and teaching professional service knowledge and technology and other aspects of the supervision,by professional institutions or senior social workers to volunteer,social work trainee,social work interns frontline primary staff and new entrants into the field of social work personnel.The localization of social work supervision directly determines the level of service and quality of social workers,affecting the sustained and healthy development of social work.The objectives of this study were to deeply understand the current situation and problems of social work supervision in Guangzhou city,analyze the limiting factors of its localization development,and make policy recommendations of its performance and localization.Based on the Social-learning Theory,Field Theory,and Asset-Based Community Development,we conducted this research by collecting questionnaires,interviewing participants,performing literature search,collecting of factual information and literature.We analyzed the data collected and summarized the results.The results of this study provided a better understanding that,the present situation and problems of the social work supervision in Guangzhou city include: 1)The supervision talent is shortage.2)Supervision is difficult to adapt to the needs of social work.3)The attention of social work supervision localization is not much high.Our study has two main conclusions: 1)the understanding of government and other institutions for social work supervision localization were limited.2)The localization system of social work supervision in Guangzhou is not perfect.On the basis of the findings of this study,we made some recommendations on the performance and localization of social work supervision in Guangzhou city.These recommendations include creating the mechanism for the localization of social work supervision,creating a working manual for the establishing a local supervisory team,providing incentives for social work supervision and localization,establishing a practical assessment procedure,encouraging social work supervisors to perform their professional roles,improving their professionalism,increasing compensation for the social workers,enriching the environment for social work localization,conceptualizing local supervision,providing trainings and forming local social work supervision modes.
