In their research on social network, sociologists mainly focus on the role social networks plays in the process of job-hunting.If we regard this process that job seekers get jobs through social network as a logical chain, the chain can be approached from two directions:the first half of the chain focuses on how job seekers use social networks in job search process, while the second half pay more attention to how social network can affect the process and result of social members' job-hunting.The previous studies focus on the second half of the chain, however, few researches pay attention to the relationship between job seekers and social network. Therefore, this thesis keeps focus on the first half of the chain and aims to reveal how job seekers use social network according to their own situation.According to researchers of social network, the whole society is a huge network which is composed of various social relationships. These diverse relationships can divided into two broad categories:human network and information network. For modern job seekers who live in a network society, social network as a resource can contribute to successful employment of college students while sometimes it also limits their choices and development. The thesis aims to analyze the impact of geographical restrictions on the use of human network and information network among college students based on both favorable conditions and restrictive factors. The thesis selects college graduates including undergraduates and postgraduates in colleges and universities in Shanghai as research objects. The research is based on materials collected through questionnaires and interviews, and aims to conduct a survey of social network used by college graduates in the process of job-seeking.The survey includes human capital of college students, the employment bias of the specialty and the degree of social network utilization in the job-hunting process. The questionnaire is designed with the reference to Professor Bian yanjie's works and SPSS statistical software is adopted for analysis of data collected. The conclusions of the study are as follows:First,if the human capital of college student is on a low level, the utilization of favoritism network will be in a higher degree while the utilization of information network will be in a lower degree.Second,if college students express great interest in major-related jobs, the utilization of human network will be in a lower degree but the utilization of information network will be in a higher degree.Thirdly, the geographical restriction has a moderating effect on the relationship between the human capital of college students, the employment bias of the specialty and the degree of favoritism network utilization in the job search network. The geographical restriction has a positive effect on the relationship between the human capital of college students and the utilization of information network, while the influence of geographical restrictions on the relationship between the employment bias of the specialty and the degree of information network utilization is not significant.Fourthly,in the job search process of college students, the geographical restriction has negative control response on the relationship between human capital of students and the degree of utilization of favoritism networks. The stronger the geographical restriction is,the weaker the relationship between human capital and the utilization of favoritism networks become. The geographical restriction has a negative control response on the relationship between employment bias of the specialty and the utilization of favoritism network. The stronger the geographical constraint is,the weaker the relationship between the employment bias and the utilization of favoritism networks become.Fifthly,in the process of job-hunting,the geographical restriction has negative control response on the relationship between human capital of students and the utilization of information network. The stronger the geographical restriction is,the stronger the relationship between human capital and the utilization of information networks become. In my paper,I try to improve the details of the use of job search network, with a view to a more comprehensive understanding of the job-network.At the same time,it is also hoped that it will be helpful for the university students to apply for employment.
