The concept of space is the basic condition for cultivating junior middle school students' innovative spirit, and it is also an important content of current junior middle school mathematics teaching. With the deepening of the new curriculum teaching reform, how to cultivate the concept of space for junior high school students has become an important goal of mathematics education.The main content of this paper is to establish the framework of mathematical concept of spatial concepts of junior high school students, to develop the questionnaire, to understand the present situation of junior students' spatial thinking ability, and to analyze the correlation and difference of each dimension with SPSS statistical software. Situation; combined with teacher surveys, put forward the corresponding teaching suggestions.An analysis of student test results shows:1. On the whole, there are some problems in the understanding of spatial concepts,the overall spatial thinking ability needs to be improved, and there are also problems of weak spatial awareness, poor practical ability and poor analytical ability.2. Throughout the current junior high school students thinking about the level of space, about 75% of the students reach the level of one, through conventional methods to solve simple problems, 50% of the students reach the level of two, in the face of slightly complex issues can be linked to the various elements , 40% of students can achieve the level of three, more rigorous thinking, the problem is more clear thinking, with a certain mathematical intuition.3.In the basic situation, the spatial thinking ability is closely linked with the student achievement; the higher the grade, the better the teaching level, the stronger the spatial thinking ability; there are some differences in the area but need further research, such as the study of different areas of similarities and differences; On the difference was not statistically significant.In the survey of teachers found:1. Teacher groups generally agree with the importance of space concepts,curriculum standards in the understanding of the concept of space is also better.2. In teaching, teachers pay more attention to the cultivation of students' spatial thinking ability.In view of the above situation, we put forward the following teaching ideas about cultivating students' mathematical space idea:First of all, in the classroom to reflect the concept of space more knowledge of the material, the maximum degree of awareness of the students to cultivate space. At the same time, we should attach importance to the concept of teaching, strengthen the essential link between concepts, so that the concept of space learning can form a system. Secondly, we should emphasize the operation of mapping, standardize the students 'problem-solving steps, guide the students' problem-solving strategies correctly, infiltrate the mathematical thinking methods, so that students in the problem-solving ideas constantly norms, to find the correct problem-solving ideas and methods. Finally, to improve the overall quality of teachers, students attach importance to the concept of space training.
