In the seventy's of last century,there were competency researches in different fields,competency research is a kind of research about people's personal qualities to engage in professional work and personal development,which is popular in the field of psychology and pedagogy.To find out weather the faculty's abilities mach the development of higher education or not,it is necessary to study teachers' competency.Scholars at home and abroad have established different competency models of university teachers,make the university teachers competency research increasingly mature,but the shortcoming of the current study is the models are seldom used after establishing.It is more necessary to explore the research and application system of university teachers' competency model to make the university teachers competency research be in line with the development of higher education.University teachers competency research and application system includes three major things: building the university teachers competency model,testing competency level of the teachers,and university teachers competency training.The most important thing of building competency model is to use varied methods flexibly to let them play combined effect on the research,such as use of Behavioral Event Interview method and Delphi method,etc.When testing the competency level of the teachers,much attention should be paid to both the common characteristics and the teachers' personality.University teachers competency training should be based on the long-term development needs,perfect training service system should be set up,including the the training and development center,scientific method of determining the training needs,a variety of training programs and humanized service,etc.
