As a kind of teaching management system,the credit system was initially implemented only in universities to better meet the needs of students' individual development.Later,it began to be practiced along the secondary education and caused widespread controversy and discussion.In the history of China,the education sector was also trying to reform and practice the credit system in some secondary schools during the 1920 s and 1930 s.The credit system and sub-choice system have replaced the school year system,which left valuable experience for the future education.After entering into the 21 st century,China has placed greater emphasis on education and teaching with a "student-centered" approach as well as student interests,hobbies and personality development.The reform and exploration of the credit system has once again attracted a lot of attention.Therefore,this thesis researches the reform of credit system implemented in secondary schools during the Republic of China on the basis of a large number of historical materials by means of historical research,so as to provide more reference for the reform and thinking of current education.This thesis mainly analyzes the reform and development of credit system in secondary schools during the Republic of China from two aspects: historical backgrounds and the evolution process that is divided into four stages: preliminary practice period,institutionalization period,the period of promotion and exploration and the period of criticism and decline.The content,basic characteristics,and reasons of each stage of the reform are thoroughly analyzed.On the basis of in-depth analysis and thinking,the thesis considered and explored the basic preconditions and conditions for the implementation of the credit system in secondary schools,and believed that the reform of credit system in secondary schools should fully consider the particularities of secondary education and development of students.Besides,the basic elements of credit system implemented in secondary schools should also be fully considered.Thus,systematic design and practice are likely to achieve the desired results.
