Cambodia is a traditional agricultural country in Southeast Asia, in which agricultural population accounts for more than 70%. Because of the twists and turns of the historical development and the turbulent political situation, the development of national economy in Cambodia is always in a relatively backward level. In 2001, Cambodia promulgated the Land Law to allow domestic and foreign enterprises or individuals engaged in agricultural production to lease land through Economic Land Concession, which attracts a lot of foreign enterprises to take overseas farmland investment in Cambodia, but also makes a series of social problems, such as the land right, dispute resolution and information sharing, etc. This paper starts with the land use and land investment situation in Cambodia, introducing the related policies of accepting overseas farmland investment. After that, analyses the current situation of China's farmland investment in Cambodia and compares China with other active investors like South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia in policies, investment situation, social feedback and other aspects. Then carries on the SWOT analysis to analyse the investment status of China in Cambodia. Finally, provides policy recommendations for further activities of our government and enterprises.
