Performance management plays a very important role in organizational management. On one hand, it brings the organization a constant institutional competitive advantage and acts as an important tool for corporate management; on the other hand, it is also a main source of reference for the organization’s strategic planning, staff recruitment, job position adjustment etc. thus becoming a tie connecting corporate strategy and practice. Currently Chinese enterprises are facing growing development pressure with the increasing global economic uncertainty. Against that backdrop, they are attaching more importance to performance management and have already done some exploratory work. However, without true understanding of performance management’s connotation, some private enterprises fail to get its essentials and give full play to its role. In some case, poorly implemented performance management even hinders the organizational development. Therefore, finding the correct approach for performance management becomes an important issue for many private enterprises.This research has quite strong practical significance. It chooses the TT food company as the research object and makes an optimal design of its performance management in the process of identifying problems, analyzing problems and solving problems. The content of this thesis falls into three parts. The first part is theoretical study, through which key basic performance management theories and extensive relevant literatures from both home and abroad are reviewed, and basic performance management knowledge and its good practice from both home and abroad are understood. In the second part, a thorough investigation into the TT food company is made with multiple back-and-forth communications, through which the problems existing in the company’s performance management is identified, whose underlying reasons are then attempted to be spotted. The third part offers optimization strategy for performance management. Optimization scheme and supported enforcement measures are formulated in order to help the company deal with those problems in its performance management ensure a smooth process, make performance management play its due role, thus improving the company’s management capabilities, raising the staff’s morale, increasing the company’s competitiveness and finally fulfilling the company’s operation targets.This research mainly adopts questionnaire survey, structured interview, fishbone diagram method and weighting factor analysis in the process of studying and optimizing performance management of TT Food Company. This thesis, through its case study, hopes to provide some reference to food processing enterprises buying livestock and poultry. Constrained by the author’s theoretical level and actual investigation and analysis experience, there are still many defects and the insufficiencies in this thesis, which will be improved through the author’s future constant learning and practice.
