Research On The Factors Influencing Trade In Agricultural Products In Russia

Agriculture is an important industry of Russia's national economy,but its development is still lagging behind the world powers.With the development of economic globalization and trade liberalization,the scale of international trade in agricultural products is increasing,which also provides a rare opportunity for the export of agricultural products.From the micro perspective,due to the 90 s implementation of the land privatization,Russia's agricultural production organization has changed a lot.The Russian agricultural sector structure underwent obvious changes,the production efficiency has significantly improved,the import and export of agricultural products increased.In the new international environment,strengthening the international competitiveness of agricultural products in Russia is crucial to the development of Russian agriculture.Russia's international competitiveness of agricultural products is relatively weak,there are many problems faced by the Russian agriculture.Russia's accession to the WTO in 2012,collapse of the Russian ruble and the economic sanctions applied by the United States and some European countries against Russia in 2014 had a huge impact on the structure of international trade in Russia.The structure of international trade of agricultural products has also changed;the import of agricultural products has shrunk,while the export of agricultural products has accelerated.Based on the study of the domestic and foreign scholars,this paper makes a research on the factors influencing trade in agricultural products in Russia.The thesis consists of five chapters.The main research background and significance,literature review,research ideas and research methods are introduced in the Introduction Part.The chapter one is a brief introduction to the theory of foreign trade in agricultural products,which is related to the study of international trade theory,including absolute advantage theory,comparative advantage theory,Heckscher–Ohlin theorem and so on.The chapter two describes the current situation of Russian agriculture,including the overall situation of agricultural development in Russia,the situation of agricultural development in its federal subjects,crop cultivation and animal husbandry in Russia,and the main policy of the Russian government in agriculture.The chapter three analyzes the current situation and existing problems in foreign trade in agricultural products,including the analysis of the world trade structure changes and the development trend of agricultural products,the import and export of agricultural products in Russia,the problems in international trade in agricultural products and the causes of it.The chapter four is the analysis of the factors influencing trade in agricultural products in Russia.Three main factors were identified: the influence of Russia's accession to the WTO,United States and European economic sanctions against Russia and ruble devaluation.In the chapter five,the author puts forward some suggestions on the factors influencing trade in agricultural products in Russia.
