Yunnan province is in a critical period of promoting new industrialization and urbanization.With the rapid economic growth,energy consumption is also increasing,which leads to a serious contradiction between energy supply and demand.On the other hand,we can not ignore the environmental pollution caused by the increase of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the process of energy consumption.Improving energy efficiency is an effective way to alleviate the pressure of energy demand growth and environmental pollution.Based on the current situation of "resource-saving and environment-friendly society" and "energy saving and emission reduction" in Yunnan Province,it is of great practical significance to study the total factor energy efficiency under the constraint of carbon emissions.Firstly,in this paper,carbon dioxide emissions are used as an Undesirable output,and the total factor energy efficiency of Yunnan province in 2005-2014 is calculated by using the SBM-DEA model with Undesirable outputs.The regional differences of total factor energy efficiency in Yunnan province were analyzed by using several statistical methods.In general,during the period of 2005-2014,the total factor energy efficiency level of Yunnan province is not high,the average is only 0.6811,but showing a stable growth trend,the annual growth rate of up to 4.08%.The geographical distribution of total factor energy efficiency of Yunnan province shows the characteristics of "high in the middle and low on both sides".In Yunnan,the total factor energy efficiency level of Diqing is the highest,reaching 0.9778,Diqing,Nujiang and Chuxiong are the top three,while the total factor energy efficiency level of Honghe is the lowest,only 0.5264.On the other hand,using Kernel density estimation method to analyze the total factor energy efficiency of Yunnan province in 2005-2014,the result shows that the regional differences are gradually decreasing.Secondly,based on the SBM-DEA model,the potential of energy saving and emission reduction in Yunnan province is analyzed.On the whole,during the period of 2005-2014,the potential and space of energy saving and emission reduction in Yunnan province are large,and there is not a small difference between the regions,but there is a gratifying downward trend.Kunming,Qujing and Honghe has the largest energy saving potential.So they are the key areas of Yunnan to energy-saving and emission reduction,while energy saving potential in Nujiang,Diqing and Xishuangbanna is less.Thirdly,study on the total factor energy efficiency of Yunnan province in 2005-2014 by the method of convergence test.During the sample period,the total factor energy efficiency of Yunnan province exists ? convergence and ? convergence.It indicates that the difference between the total factor energy efficiency of their internal states becomes smaller gradually,And total energy efficiency of the low efficiency area grows faster than high efficiency area.Fourthly,This paper uses the method of empirical analysis to analyze the factors that affect the total factor energy efficiency of Yunnan province.The results of the empirical study is: during the period of 2005-2014 years,the industrial structure adjustment and urban level has significant positive effect on total factor energy efficiency of Yunnan province;the ownership structure has a positive effect is not significant on total factor energy efficiency of Yunnan province;and the technical level,economic level,opening up and the government control has a significant negative effect on total factor the energy efficiency of Yunnan province.Finally,based on the conclusions of this paper,the paper puts forward some suggestions to improve the energy efficiency,reduce Regional differences in energy efficiency and the energy saving and emission reduction in Yunnan province.
