Chongqing is an important region of China's development.The Chongqing's GDP growth rate in 2014 to 2016 has ranked the first for 12 consecutive quarters in China.The tourism revenue of Chongqing in 2016 was 264.521 billion,which increased to 17.5% from the same period last year.The growth rate of Chongqing's tourism revenue in 2014 and 2015 was maintained more than 12%,which showing that the Chongqing's tourism growth rate is extremely strong.However,Chongqing's tourism economic aggregate lies in low mediate level all over the country.How to maintain the strong growth rate of Chongqing tourism industry and make the total tourism industry in Chongqing continue to improve needs us to consider,so investigating the problem of the "Chongqing tourism competitiveness upgrade" is necessary.This paper starts with the theories of industrial competitiveness and tourism economy,bases on research results of domestic and international tourism industry competitiveness and summarizes the unique development of China's industry.It comes up with the regional tourism industry competitiveness consisting of potential competitiveness,support competitiveness and performance competitiveness,which is manifested as comprehensive competitive power in the tourism industry.In order to construct theoretical analytical framework of regional tourism industry competitiveness and assessment indicator system,and based on the 23 tourism index data of 31 provinces in mainland China in 2014,it utilizes entropy weight method,TOPSIS and RStudio to analyze the national tourism industry development situation quantitatively and the tourism industry competitiveness in Chongqing thoroughly and comprehensively.In this paper,it is found that the most influential indicators of tourism industry competitiveness are the number of international tourists(0.2164),tourism foreign exchange income(0.0864),tourism resource density(0.0612),the total number of tourism employment(0.0541),the proportion of the third industries to GDP(0.0467).Through the evaluation and comparison of the tourism competitiveness of 31 provinces in mainland China,the tourism competitiveness in Chongqing ranked 17 th,the tourism support competitiveness ranked 8th,the tourism performance ranked 18 th,and the comprehensive competitiveness of tourism ranked 13 th.In general,only tourism support competitiveness in Chongqing is in the upper reaches of the level,and other aspects of competitiveness in the country are in the middle and lower reaches of the level.In the 12 provinces in the western region,Chongqing's tourism industry ranked 3rd in overall competitiveness;Compared with 11 provinces in the Yangtze River Economic Zone,the comprehensive competitiveness of tourism in Chongqing ranked 7th;Compared with three municipalities directly under the central government----Beijing,Shanghai and Tianjin,the tourism industry in Chongqing lags behind.Finally,according to the comprehensive and multi-angle comparison of the tourism industry in Chongqing,this paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the tourism industry in Chongqing,finds out the factors that affect the development of tourism in Chongqing,and excavates the focus of enhancing the competitiveness of tourism industry in Chongqing.This paper comes up with the methods and suggestions to cultivate and enhance the competitiveness of tourism industry in Chongqing.Moreover,it provides a useful reference for the development and improvement of tourism industry in Chongqing.
