Research On The Impact Of Trade Facilitation On China's Export Of Electromechanical Products To ASEAN

Since the establishment of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area,bilateral trade between China and ASEAN has expanded rapidly.The trade gap of China to ASEAN has shifted from the long-term deficit into surplus since2012,in which the contribution the export of electromechanical products made can not be overlooked.However,with the diminishing marginal utility of tariff,the export of China's electromechanical products is facing increasingly fierce competition,so it is time to find new favorable factors to explore the potential of electromechanical product exports.More and more countries attach importance to trade facilitation because of its advantages,such as reducing trade cost,improving trade efficiency and promoting trade flows.Therefore,this paper aims to analyze the influence of trade facilitation on China's export of electromechanical products to ASEAN.From three dimensions—export scale and structure,dependence on export and export competitiveness,the paper inspects comprehensively the export trade status of China's electromechanical products to ASEAN and finds that the overall situation is good while there is extra space to optimize.Then through the qualitative analysis on the progress of trade facilitation of China and ASEAN,as well as the construction of two level index system to measure their total score of trade facilitation and scores of four major areas(infrastructure quality,customs environment,regulatory environment and e-commerce)by principal component analysis,this paper has found obvious differentiation among these countries and each has its own focus in four areas of trade facilitation.Besides,most countries are in an inconvenient state.Finally,empirical expanding trade gravity models find that when the total level of tradefacilitation of China and ASEAN are increased by 1% separately,ASEAN's imports of electromechanical products from China has a growth of 1.61% and 0.49% respectively.As for the specific areas,ASEAN's infrastructure quality and e-commerce will improve China's export of electromechanical products largely while the effect from their customs environment and regulatory environment are relatively small.In addition to e-commerce,the other three indexes of China have no significant effect on the export of electromechanical products to ASEAN.
