Research On Business Model Of Crowd Logistics

With the development of the shared economy,crowdsourcing is becoming prevalent and energetic nowadays.As the E-commerce environment and information technology in China is currently experienced a rapid development,the increasing online shopping brings more opportunities and challenges to logistics industry.Thus crowd logistics provides a viable and effective way to deal with such situation.This study analyzed the theories of business model,shared economy and crowdsourcing,and further explored the outside environment,inner requirements,and related parties of crowdsourcing.Based on these theories,this study demonstrates related theories about crowd logistics.Since Chinese logistics industry is currently confronted with certain barriers,such as t he dramatically increasing traffic volume,enhanced requirements of service level,and high rate of complaints from customers,this study provides the necessity evidence of implementing and improving the crowdsourcing business model in logistics industry,as well as the feasibility analysis of cost cutting,on-demand delivery and the optimal resource allocation.However,the implementation of crowd logistics business model is face d with challenges from law confirmation,safety regulation,standard procedure and risk management,since the combination and development of crowdsourcing and logistics are at a preliminary stage.This study adopted case study to analyze the business model of crowd logisti cs.The case analysis adopted Porter's five forces and SWOT analysis to a nalyze NewDada Company,exploring its market environment,strengths,weaknesses,opportunities and threats separately.Also,this case study is developed further into the design of platform and profit pattern,thus came up with recommendations such as relying on professional couriers,and strengthening the real-time supervision;and improving the new profit pattern.In addition,this study adopted synthesized analysis on the relationship between crowdsourcing platform and two-sided market,and the connection between profit pattern and supply chain conformity,as well as the current development in logistics industry.Therefore,this study provides following recommendations for the further business model development of crowd logistics.Firstly,the companies with crowd logistics business model should adopt a high ratio of professional couriers,establishing and improving the related database.Then these companies should perform scientific supervision on the distribution procedure,and make full use of data integration and analysis.Last but not least,these firms should establish the new profit pattern and keep it updated in time.This study analyzed the theory of business model and crowd logistics through literature review,and explored the developing business model of crow dsourcing in Chi nese logistics industry;therefore this research provides support for the further development of business model in crowd logistics.
