Green construction is the trend of the future construction industry.The effective tool for green construction is the green construction technology and management.However,in engineering practice,owners of construction enterprises tend to believe that the application of green construction technology and management increases upfront input costs and affects labor productivity due to most workers unfamiliar with new technology.This paper provides a method to evaluate the application effect of green construction for each construction activities,and studies if application of green construction impacts construction labor productivity or construction cost.Based on data from Zhejiang Budget Quota of Construction Engineering(1994 and 2010),100 sample sub-divisional works are selected for the study.According to the target of green construction,resource conservation and environmental protection,seven evaluating indicators help reflect the application effect of green construction for each sub-divisional work.Then variance test preliminarily describes the difference of the change of construction labor productivity and the change of construction cost with and without the improvement of green construction.The Pearson correlative analysis tests whether there is a correlation between green construction and construction labor productivity or construction cost.Finally,dummy variables are introduced into the regression model,which gives detailed influencing relationship between the performance of green construction and construction labor productivity or cost.It observes that a low positive correlation exists between green construction and construction labor productivity,and a moderate negative correlation exists between green construction and construction cost.For example,the increase of construction labor productivity with material saving is 36.6%higher than that without material saving;the change of construction cost with noise management is 23.9%lower than that without noise management.In the last part of the paper,some suggestions on the promotion of green construction are proposed,including a change of traditional cognition,the progress of technology and the establishment of standards.However,the data acquisition,to a certain extent,limits the research of this paper.It is hoped that the measurement of green construction performance and the cost of the sub-divisional works need to be more accurate in future research.
