With increasingly rapid development of financial globalization,both internal and external environment of bank industry in China have changed a lot,which has led to significant impact on the development of China's bank industry.Facing intensified pressure and challenges,in order to adapt to new environment,reform should be conducted on the field of both theories and methods,and performance appraisal system of bank industry should be improved as well.On the basis of strategic objectives of the bank,the performance appraisal system should be built with the center of strategic objectives,with the aim of achieving the integration of appraisal and strategies.The Balance Score card(the BSC for short)has been widely accepted by various industries and it has been utilized in the corporate performance management since it was put forward by Robert Kaplan and David Norton.Head office of Z bank has already introduced the BSC at the head office.In this research,bench marking analysis,questionnaires and interviews are conducted to analyze the performance management conditions,existed problems and implementation of the BSC of Z branch.Research findings:(1)Z branch tends to passively carry out performance indicators instead of truly introducing the BSC as the strategic performance management.(2)The BSC indicators of Z branch lack distinction to some extent,especially in the study and grow dimension.(3)At first employees had general misunderstanding toward the BSC.Instead of regarding it as an effective strategic performance management method,they consider it similar performance assessment indicator as KPI.(4)although employees,departments and the whole branch bank have their own performance appraisal dimensions and indicators,there is no dynamic link among these dimension and indicators due to disconnection between strategies and performance management.Vertically,casual relations of performance appraisal indicators in different levels have not been fully presented.Horizontally,the role of synergy of performance appraisal has not been fully played.Based on these problems,the thesis puts forward an introduction plan of the BSC under the condition of accounting for the current status of Z branch.It also combs problems existed in the process of introducing the BSC,which not only guides the direction but also clarifies ways for further implementation of the BSC as strategic performance management method.
