Study On The Production Of Tourism Space In Gulangyu Island From The Perspective Of Power

The rise of the postmodernism and the critical context has made the “space” become the dominant form of scholar's narrative in contemporary society.Under the global vision of social mobility and hierarchical power make tourism under the background of space is full of power.Gulangyu Island's production and distribution of power in the process of tourism space worth exploring.From the interdisciplinary perspective of cultural geography and anthropology,this paper combining qualitative research methods and quantitative research methods,field research as the main research methods.First of all,according to culture and the level of capital injection,Gulangyu's different historical stages of space production evolution models are divided into "acquaintance society","half acquaintance society" and "strangers society" mode.We also restore the Kulangsu's native space from the "spatial feature" and "space form".Secondly,according to the symbol construction of destination under the background of tourism development,the constructed spatial form of Gulangyu are classified into "capitalization of material space","on the social space","mixed cultural space".Thirdly,using AHP method to measure tourists and aboriginal's tourism space production power tend,then compared the both and evaluated it.We can concluded that aboriginal in the travel space production system belongs to the weak power group which participation is not high.Finally,we put forward the optimization strategy of Gulangyu's space production mode by analysis the production and consumption main body in this tourism space production system.Research shows that:(1)Under the background of tourism development,the material space changes of Gulangyu shows that the indigenous life and living space assignmented for the tourism landscape,indigenous people facing the typical dilemma that "body is the field and the soul is not in";the social space characterized by liquidity enhancement,local social population structure changed by the floating population,the public space almost become the practice stage of tourism activities,indigenous people were "objectification";the mental space became the practice of landscape examined "the other",indigenous lost the life "backstage".(2)Native's experience to the social level,community relations,the rights of tourism and tourism power dimensions were in a "weakness" state,with different degree of relative deprivation,especially in the resources possession and marginalised social hierarchy,enjoyed insufficient power.(3)The practical essence of Gulangyu multi-main-body power imbalance is indigenous whose decision-making,engaged in business activities associated with tourism,had the weaken power and the strong power group occupied the best tourism space resources.Reconstructing tourism space,therefore,the mechanism of production system,setting up a coordination mechanism of power sharing and participation,improving the capacity of indigenous power participation are the main measures to adjust the imbalance of power.And further thinking,culture is the core of the tourism attraction,the cultural's living condition is the foundation of the indigenous and their original production way of life,and on the basis of the formation of the culture.Only the using by powerful and powerless group reached a state of sharing,tourism spatial justice can exist,tourist destination can achieve the real "decolonization" and indigenous people can retain the "backstage" of life in practice and in space.
