Then this article investigates the correlation between/among research variables. At the last, it summarizes the literature review, and points out both contributions and deficiency of existing theories.Secondly, in order to control the impact of the rewards categories on the research, this article selects Pay for Performance (PFP) to carry out the investigation. After the questionnaire and related empirical analysis of a sample of 273 employees from 7 high-tech companies, several conclusions are drawn based on Self-Determination Theory (SDT ):(1) PFP was significantly and negatively correlated with innovation performance;(2) PFP was significantly and negatively correlated with innovation motivation;(3) Innovation motivation was significantly and positively correlated with innovation performance;(4) Innovation Motivation was found to partially mediate the association between PFP and innovation performance;(5) Materialistic values did not have any moderating effect on PFP and innovation performance;(6) Materialistic values significantly moderated the mediating effect of motivation motivation. Finally, combining the conclusions above and the deficiency of existing researches, this article puts forward potential research fields later on and gives corresponding management implications, which is of great significance both theoretically and practically.
