Nowadays,traditional performance appraisal system is still used by Chinese merchant banks.In Bank of China W branch,the situation is no difference.In its performance appraisal system,financial indicators are the most forceful factors to evaluate the management level,which has been disadvantage in the fiercely competitive financial markets.Maintaining clients,improving staff and work efficiency must be paid more attention to,which is helpful to development.BSC contains the three non-financial factors,which will contribute to understanding their strength and weakness,analyzing and predicting the future.We could constantly improve the performance appraisal system by solving the problems in the process.Bank of China W branch is the research object.Firstly,understand the basic situation of performance management system through reading relevant files,interviewing the staff and some other ways.Then analyze the data between task indicators from head office and completed indicators of W branch using Analytic Hierarchy Process to identify the gaps.Thirdly,based on the Balanced Scorecard,construct appropriate performance management system to narrow the gaps.Finally,point out the problems should be paid attention to and give supporting measures.This paper contains following sections: Firstly,I set forth the economic background,research meaning,thinking and methods,literature review and the place of innovation.Secondly,I produce theories of performance management and introduction of the Balanced Score Card.Thirdly,I briefly introduce W branch,and point out its main problems in performance appraisal system.Fourthly,I use BSC methods to establish an appropriate appraisal system.The last part is the conclusion and prospect.The significance is to optimize the performance appraisal system and reinforce core-competitiveness and general strength.The innovation of my paper is that I combine task indicators and actual situation of W branch in construction of performance management system based on BSC,to promote sustained,healthy and orderly development.
