Innovation has been at the core of advancing a nation and been perceived as the solid foundation for rising a nation.In accordance with the report proposed on the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the innovation-driven strategy implementation has been included as one of the national development strategies.In the wake of such progress,the significance of innovation has been highly elevated from the perspective of strategy and the overall situation of China.In the course of regional economic development,the innovation has been deemed as the major driving force.For this reason,as the local government seeks to nurture the core competitiveness for the regional economy,adjust the scientific and technological resources and boost the scientific and technological innovation,the regional innovation environment shall be firstly optimized and perfected.To a large extent,the regional economy is dependent on the regional innovation environment.Hence,if the regional innovation environment is enhanced in construction,the regional sustainable economic development can be greatly enhanced,the innovation-oriented city can be established and the modernization can be overall realized in China.As the economy has been paced into the new normal situation,China shall formulate the reasonable scientific policy,elevate the regional scientific and technological innovation capacity and boost the healthy development of the regional economy under the national promotion of economic development transformation mainly through the reform of supply-side structure,which arouses the primary attention from the public.This paper,following the guidance of relevant economic development theory and the scientific and technological innovation policies,acquires the knowledge from the domestic relevant economic theories related to the scientific and technological innovation and economic development.Through integrating the domestic actual condition,the correlation between the scientific and technological innovation and the economic development is explored.On the basis of the previous index system,the index system of regional innovation capability and performance is established from the urban function perspective.Additionally,after the survey and the statistical analysis,the empirical analysis is carried out on Chongqing city.As the research bespeaks,the scientific innovation and the regional economic growth are highly positively correlated.The rate of economic growth contributed to by the scientific and technological advances has been increased year by year.To promote the regional scientific and technological innovation capability and the performance,the regional scientific and technological innovation function shall be basically constructed,conducing to enhancing the regional development competitiveness.On that basis,integrating the Chongqing's actual condition,the policy suggestion for boosting the regional scientific and technological innovation is proposed.The quantitative and qualitative researches are combined in this paper,and various quantitative relations and quantitative characteristics of the scientific and technological innovation and regional economic development are delved into through adopting the empirical analysis.Such progress shall make possible the resolution of coordinated development between the scientific and technological innovation and the regional economy,present guidance for the coordinated development between the scientific and technological innovation and the regional economy,delve into the issue of the scientific and technological innovation and the regional economy development,and further enrich the theoretical researches of the relevant issues.
