Research On The Evaluation Of Urban Public Transport System Efficiency Based On Data Envelopment Analysis

With the fast development of economics and the continuous improvement of people's living standards,the rapid increase in motor vehicle ownership,traffic congestion has become increasingly prominent.Public transport as a large-capacity passenger transport tool,not only can better alleviate the pressure of private cars on urban transport,but also to meet the basic needs of urban residents travel.And also reduce the urban environment caused by motorized travel problems.However,the urban public transport system has the characteristics of complicated internal structure,huge cost of infrastructure construction and high operation and management cost,which makes the urban public transport enterprises generally in a loss situation and need a lot of financial subsidies to maintain the operation.This makes the construction of urban public transport development of the local government and investors had a huge economic pressure.Therefore,it is necessary to evaluate and study the efficiency of urban public transport system,understand its operation situation,existing problems and development prospects.For the direction of urban transport development,and for the relevant departments to provide decision-making basis and solve the problem of urban transport overall thinking.This paper first introduces the basic theory of urban public transport system and efficiency evaluation.Then,the data envelopment analysis method is introduced in detail.On this basis,the efficiency evaluation index system of urban public transport system based on input and output angle is established,and the efficiency evaluation model of urban public transportation system is constructed.Finally,based on the urban public transport system of Urumqi as an example,the data envelopment analysis method is used to analyze the efficiency of the system.The results of empirical analysis show that the comprehensive efficiency of public transport system in Urumqi is low and total factor productivity(TFP)is fluctuating.Among them,the conventional public transport system is developing well,the taxi system efficiency is low.The impact of public transport system in Urumqi is mainly due to the low efficiency of scale.Therefore,Urumqi City in improving the efficiency of urban public transport system,should be to maintain technical efficiency at the same time,to focus on improving the scale of efficiency above.
