In recent years, the business volume of container hub port is increasing with the accelerated process of economic globalization,in order to compete in the new round of the hub port,in the construction of all countries in the world to seize the initiative, the container hub port as its key port development, but there are many ports can not understand their own position,it is difficult to make a reasonable the port development planning for ship companies, especially for world shipping companies in the global goods transportation,it is difficult to decision to call what international hub port, port and other ports to evacuate cargo fed by international hub port to the evacuation, such goods to the shipping company, not only can to reduce the cost, but also can save time, improve transport efficiency, increase customer satisfaction. However, for the study of the world major ports have almost no classification. Therefore,it is an imperative task to carry out the research on the classification of major ports in the world in this context, and it is a valuable research subject to study the classification of major ports in Asia Europe Oceania. This paper proposes a hierarchical hub location problem,in which we distinguish between regional and international hub ports in liner shipping. It develops a mixed-integer linear programming model for our proposed problem. This article summarizes the container throughput of the ports in the world. It had collected some shipping companies called port data, and identified the candidate's international hub port and regional hub port on the basis of these data and combined with geography, etc.Generally, the regional hub ports are used to consolidate containers from their associated feeder ports, and then these containers are transported to the nearby international hub ports.Furthermore, our proposed problem introduces the main ports, each of which has a high import or export container shipment demand.Evidently, the main ports can be regarded as a special kind of international hub ports, which do not serve any feeder port and regional hub port.Numerical experiments based on a realistic Asia-Europe-Oceania liner shipping network are carried out to account for the effectiveness of our model.
