Basa is the main product of aquaculture and export industry in Vietnam.Between 1998 to 2015,Vietnamese Basa exports have made significant achievements.However,on the one hand,the export of Basa fish has increased significantly.On the other hand,there are also some problems in the export of Basa fish,such as:lack of stability,unfair competition within the industry,uneven distribution of benefits,and more obvious risks of regional water pollution.In the face of such situation,it is necessary to re-evaluate the activities of Vietnam's exports of Basa.Furthermore,to analyze the characteristics and influencing factors of the development of Basa fish in Vietnam,and to put forward relevant policy recommendations to strengthen the competitiveness of Basa's exports in order to maintain the Vietnamese Basa in the world exportations market.On the basis of the literature review,this paper analyzes the present situation of Vietnamese aquatic products export trade and the present situation of Vietnamese Basa export trade.The analysis shows that the trade volume of the product is increasing year by year from 2005 to 2015,but the export growth is unstable and there are still some problems.It is important to mention that the paper analyzes the influencing factors of Vietnamese Basa export trade by the gravitational model.The results show that the influence of Vietnamese GDP,the GDP of importing countries,the geographical distance between Vietnam and the importing country,are important factors for the exports of Basa fish in Vietnam more than the contractual free trade agreement.Finally,this paper argues that Vietnam Basa industry in the process of improving international competitiveness should proceed from the specific reality of the industry,in order to consolidate the existing advantages for the weak links to brand building.Specific measures are:improving the technological content of products,creating their own brand,strengthening the marketing channel construction,all of them to speed up the construction of Vietnamese Basa Association and play its guiding role.
