Study On The Growth Impetus And Driving Effect Of Urban Innovation Capacity

Innovation is the impetus for historical progress,source for economic growth and key to the development of the time.In present days,innovation has become the priority for the development of all countries and regions.President Xi Jinping emphasized in the report of the 19th National Congress of the CPC that Innovation is the primary driving force behind development,and it is the strategic underpinning for building a modernized economy,and improve our national innovation system and promote the accelerating construction of an innovative country.As regional development centers,cities gather various resources and economic and social activities,and the promotion of urban innovation is closely connected to urban economic development,regional coordinated development and national sustainable development.However,the domestic and overseas academia has done limited research on related problems like the connotation of urban innovation capacity,growth impetus,driving effects and so on,and empirical study is particularly lacking.As a consequence,based on previous research achievements,this research takes urban innovation capacity as an explained variable,innovation basis,innovation talents,industrial clusters and market openness degree as explaining variables,and it constructs an analytical framework and measurement model of urban innovation capacity growth impetus,and this research collects the penal data from 213 Chinese cities of prefecture level and above from the year 2007 to 2016,and research methods like descriptive statistical analysis,analysis of time series,spatial data analysis,multiple regression analysis and so on are adopted to probe into urban innovation capacity impetus growth and driving effects,and the following conclusions are drawn thereof.(1)The connotation and model of urban innovation capacity and its growth impetus.The concept of urban innovation capacity is defined as the capacity of a city to transform various resources like knowledge into new products,new processes and new services,and urban innovation capacity growth impetus is divided into four dimensions including innovation basis,innovation talents,industrial clusters and market openness degree based on related theoretical research,and an analytical framework and measurement model of urban innovation capacity growth impetus areformed based on the four dimensions,and this research makes a hypothesis that every growth impetus has significant positive influence on urban innovation capacity.(2)The index and measurement of urban innovation capacity and its growth impetus.An evaluation system of urban innovation is constructed and data is collected,and analysis of time series and spatial data analysis are applied to unveil the growth curve and distribution discrepancies of China's overall,regional and urban innovation capacity.(3)Empirical test of urban innovation capacity impetus effects.The panel data of 213 cities of prefecture level and above are used to conduct an empirical test on the measurement model,and a panel data regression model is constructed,and the system unveils the driving intensity of growth impetus including innovation basis,innovation talents,industrial clusters,market openness degree and so on towards China's urban innovation capacity.Every explaining variable has produced significant positive influence on urban innovation capacity,which accords with the research hypothesis.Among the impetuses,the innovation talents variable has the strongest driving capacity.On this basis,a regression analysis of the data from different regions and cities is conducted,and the innovation capacity driving effects of different regions and cities are unveiled,and the driving intensity of all the dimensions of growth impetus in China's different regions and cities is verified.
