Yangtze River across our eastern Midwest,is an important piece of transport link, known as China's "Golden Waterway." The Yangtze River Economic Belt formed in the Yangtze River Basin is the first-level development axis of China's economic strategic layout. As the most comprehensive economic strength in China and the largest development potential, the economic development of China has important guiding significance for China's strategic layout. After China's economy has entered the "new normal," economic growth has changed from "high speed" to "medium-high speed," and the task of industrial restructuring has intensified.China urgently needs to nurture new economic support points to provide continuous momentum for economic development. The purpose of this paper is to study the status quo of manufacturing industries in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the evolutionary rules of comparative advantages and analyze their influencing factors,in order to cultivate the potential comparative advantages of the Yangtze River Economic Belt manufacturing industry, and to promote the transfer and structural upgrading of China's manufacturing industry. The collaborative development provides scientific basis and policy recommendations. The article first starts with Ricardo's comparative advantage, and based on previous research and theory and practice, selects the 12 manufacturing industries of the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2002 to 2016 in accordance with the HS 2 bit code of the customs, and classifies them into labor-intensive and capital-intensive types respectively.According to the content of science and technology,it is divided into high, medium and low-tech manufacturing industries.Lafay index is used to measure theircomparative advantage, and the comparative advantages are compared according to the overall, provincial and industry classifications, reflecting the dynamic changes in comparative advantage. On this basis, relevant factors such as factor endowments, scientific research inputs, economies of scale, and ownership structure were selected as relevant variables to construct a panel regression model to analyze the influencing factors of the dynamic evolution of comparative advantage. The main contributions and conclusions are as follows:First,in the measurement of comparative advantage, the Lafay index is selected for calculation.Since the comparative advantage is structural in definition, the periodic impact is a very critical issue. The Lafay index utilizes the normal trade of each type of product. The difference between the difference and the total normal trade balance has solved this problem. It is more appropriate than other measure index international specialization index.Secondly,in the measurement and analysis of comparative advantage,it is found that there is a phenomenon of convergence of industrial structure among various provinces of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, with obvious regional characteristics. It is mainly labor-intensive and resource-intensive in the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Industry-based,low technology content, belonging to the low-end of the industrial chain;the manufacturing industry in the downstream provinces gradually shift from labor-intensive industries to technology-intensive industries, high technology content, mainly belonging to the high-end of the industrial chain. The gap in comparative advantage between high-tech manufacturing and low-tech manufacturing is gradually narrowing.Third,we selected seven factors that influence the labor cost index, fixed assets investment,capital-labor ratio,R&D input, economies of scale,asset-liability ratio and ownership structure. The empirical results show that the impact of economies of scale on comparative advantage is the most significant. The degree of influence is also greatest, followed by per capita labor capital and R&D investment to drive dynamic changes in comparative advantage.Based on the above research results, this paper puts forward corresponding policy recommendations: make use of existing comparative advantages, increase R&Dinvestment, accelerate technological innovation of enterprises, strengthen regional cooperation, achieve coordinated development of manufacturing industries in various provinces, and achieve industrial upgrading;Role,to achieve orderly and efficient development of the manufacturing industry.
