Study On The Impact Of Earthquake Disasters On The Agricultural Economy In Western China

In recent years,natural disasters have occurred frequently,seriously affecting the normal life and production in rural areas.Earthquakes,as a typical representative of natural disasters in China,are difficult to predict,sudden,destructive,prone to secondary disasters and far-reaching impact.Once the earthquake disaster occurs,it will often bring huge economic losses,and the damage to our agricultural economy is particularly serious.At present,China's agricultural economic base is still weak,the degree of mechanization and modernization is not high,and the overall development has a high vulnerability.Earthquake disasters may further lead to the destruction of agricultural infrastructure,the reduction of material capital and human capital returns,and hinder the sustainable development of agricultural economy.Agriculture is the basic industry to support the economic growth in the western region of China.It is related to the development of the western minority areas and the process of agricultural industrialization.It has important strategic significance for China to achieve a well-off society in an all-round way.But at the same time,natural disasters such as earthquakes occur frequently in Western China,which seriously affects the development of agricultural economy in Western China and the well-being of farmers.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the impact of earthquake disasters on agriculture in Western China and to construct an aid mechanism for post-earthquake rehabilitation and reconstruction.On the basis of literature review,this paper defines the related concepts of earthquake disaster and regional agricultural economy,and expounds the basic theory of disaster economy,agricultural economic development theory and disaster recovery and rescue theory.Then,the basic situation of earthquake disaster and its impact and destruction on agricultural economy in Western China are briefly analyzed,the social and economic effects of earthquake on agricultural economic development are explained,and the influence mechanism of earthquake on agricultural economic development is analyzed.Based on the panel data of prefecture-level cities in Western China from 2000 to 2016,the impact of earthquake disasters on agricultural economy is further tested by using the fixed effect model.Finally,the recovery and rescue mechanism after the earthquake in Western China is constructed.Based on the results of theoretical and empirical analysis,the following conclusions are drawn.First,the overall frequency of earthquake disasters in Western China is high,especially in Sichuan,Yunnan and Xinjiang provinces.Earthquakes can cause varying degrees of damage to crop cultivation,forestry,animal husbandry and fisheries.Secondly,the impact of earthquake disasters on agricultural economy in Western China is mainly through the impact of earthquake on agricultural infrastructure,agricultural economic output,rural labor force,rural investment and consumption.Thirdly,the empirical results show that the earthquake can lead to a 10.6% decrease in agricultural output and a 7.53% decrease inagricultural human capital in the western region;compared with the Northwest region,the earthquake disaster has a greater destructive effect on the agricultural economy in the southwest region;the earthquake has a negative impact on the agricultural economy by destroying the infrastructure in the western region,but it has not affected the agricultural economy through consumption and price mechanism.Agricultural economic development.Finally,in the process of strengthening earthquake prevention and disaster reduction and reducing agricultural economic losses in the western region,we must enhance the seismic capacity of agricultural infrastructure,improve the government-led earthquake relief system,optimize the agricultural industrial structure,improve the quality of agricultural human capital,and build agriculture.The disaster insurance system and other aspects are being started.
