Camellia japonica seed oil is a characteristic camellia product in our country.Although camellia oil as edible oil has been widely developed, its application as a cosmetic skin care product is still rare to see.In the current cosmetics market, the pursuit of using natural additives to replace chemical compounds to ensure the safety has become a trend of the cosmetic formulation. This study mainly used natural plant extracts to improve one of the currently commercial camellia Japonica seed oil cream formulation.Firstly, the deteriorated samples of this product were analyzed from three aspects:microorganism, lipid oxidation stability and the physical structure of the cream. The comparison of the normal creams with the commercial ones showed that the peroxide value and the malondialdehyde value of deteriorated creams were significantly higher than the normal ones, and the reason for the deterioration was mainly attributed to the oxidation of the oils. The content of unsaturated fatty acid in Camellia japonica seed oil was 88.59%detected by gas phase, and its oxidative stability was only 2.39 h.Although the unopened samples met the microbiological criteria, after unsealing 24 h,the total amount of bacteria was growing rapidly. To solve the current formulation problem of this product, the study selected 13 kinds of natural plant extracts from three groups to reconstruct the antioxidant and antibacterial systems of the product. In order to explore the antioxidant effect of natural plant extracts,Rancimat method was used to determine the antioxidant activity of camellia Japonica seed oil added with different kinds of natural plant extracts, and then natural plant extracts, which show greats antioxidant activity in this test, will be added to the cream either singly or in combination. The effect of improving the original formulation of the product was evaluated by measuring the change of the peroxide value and the colorimetric value of the cream after being stored at high temperature(60?)for 16 days. Finally,it was confirmed that the compound antioxidant combination-rosemary extract and green tea extract have a synergistic antioxidation effect,at the same time, the chroma performance of the product can be improved by adjusting the content of the water-soluble extract-tea extract. The inhibition zone experiment proved that rosemary essential oil, highland lavender essential oil, peppermint oil and rose oil had broad-spectrum antibacterial effect. The results showed that the broad-spectrum antibacterial effect of rose essential oil and lemongrass oil was better than traditional sodium dehydroacetate by the minimum inhibitory concentration test. The green tea extract had a strong inhibitory effect on bacteria, and its MIC value was close to 0.10%g/ml.Compound antibacterial experiments confirmed that rose essential oil and lemon grass essential oil, rose essential oil and green tea extract, these two groups of complex system both have synergistic inhibitory effect.Five antibacterial systems with great effect in this product were obtained through the antibacterial challenge experiment, which can be considered in the production to replace traditional preservatives.
