The development of the “Kai Ping Diaolou and Villages” flourished during the unrest of the social turmoil in the late Qing and early Republic of China. In order to resist risks and escape floods, the Kaiping Diaolou and the village came into being with the then remittance economy.Since the middle of the 19 th century, due to the labor market demand in the markets of North America and Southeast Asia,a large number of young people in rural areas in Kaiping have been out working;another reason is that Hakkas have migrated to the Guangfu area.In order to compete for land resources, the two sides fought repeatedly. In the conflict, both captured prisoners were sold as “piglets” to the South American and American markets, and overseas workers made money to return home to build overseas Chinese villages.According to the records of Kaiping County,in the 12 th year of Kangxi, there were 102 natural villages throughout the county;Daguang County increased to 571 years;in the Republic of China,it exceeded 1,800;during the early years after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the number of rural villages fell rapidly. The total number of buildings currently preserved in Kaiping Diaolou is 1,833.More than 1,600 units were built during the period of Chinese occupation, accounting for 90% of all existing towers. However, the outbreak of the Pacific War during World War II had cut off the supply of overseas remittances, and the repeal of the "Chinese Exclusion Act" in Europe and the United States.Outbound personnel have since stayed in the ocean and overseas Chinese villages have fallen into a large number of towers, houses and residences. It is deeply influenced by the local geographical environment, social security status, historical development, and overseas immigration policy to China.Due to the migration and exchange of Chinese and foreign cultures caused by immigration during the above-mentioned specific period, the local architecture of the Kaiping area and the Western architectural forms merge into the traditional three-story residential building with local characteristics, the “three two galleries” and the lu-style and Diaolou buildings. As a result of the extremely high architectural artistic values Kaiping Diaolou and 2001 were included in the national cultural relics protection unit by the State Council. In 2007,Zili Village in Tangkou Town,Kaiping City,Jiangmen City,Guangdong Province,Majianglong Village in Lily Town,Jinjiangli Village and Chikan Town in Gaogang Town,Jiangmen City,Guangdong Province in 2007 Sanmenli Village has become a world cultural heritage site because it can fully embody the characteristics of Kaiping Diaolou and Villages.Based on extensive data collection and field surveys, this article summarizes the basic characteristics of villages and villages in Kaiping-village roads, street and lane spaces, public places, and the main types of buildings in Kaiping villages-towers,houses,and traditional houses.Secondly,it analyzes the role of social culture at home and abroad in Kaiping villages, summarizes the status quo and combines existing protection systems, planning, and implementation results to explore relevant recommendations for the re-use of Kaiping Diaolou and Villages.
