With the quick development and wide use of the network and CAD technologies, the more and more high requirements of the CAD technology have been put forward. It is well known that most CAD products belong to standard parts or component commonality derived by variant design, and the parts library as an important part of CAD system, its common sharing and reusability can realize information integration and complementary advantages, greatly reduce the development costs, shorten the research cycle and then enhance the competition ability of enterprises. Therefore, building parts library system in Web has become a hot topic in recent years.In order to meet the need of Xianyang science and technology Board, and for the purpose of promoting technological innovation, strengthening the construction of public technology service platform, and improving the social productive forces, the development and application of parts libraries in the Web environment have bean explored. In this paper we adopt several technologies such as CAD, Internet and database to accomplish the goal. The main research work and results are as follows:1) In the system structure, the whole structure is designed based on the B/S network model according to the actual need of the enterprises. The function model of the system is designed by the UML tools, and a new cross-platforms solution combined with STEP is given out.2) In the parameter modeling, the parametric design method for part is introduced with the technologies of parameterized and feature modeling, and the developing process of the driver module for SolidWorks is described in detail, which can solve the problems of the part information modeling and parameter driven in Web perfectly.3) In the information integration, the part information description and storage mechanism are built up. which can make the system safety and efficiency. Meanwhile, the Dtree and VRML technologies are studied, which make it possible to browse the tree view and 3D dynamic display of the part information in client, and realize dynamic interactive in Web environment. 4) In the development of applications, the website serving parts library platform is developed by several tools such as Dreamweave and Jbuilderx, and the working processes for main function modules are introduced, which proves that the system is reliable and practical.
