The deterioration of the atmosphere has made it more and more important and difficult for Shanxi,a coal-rich province,to play a role in reducing carbon emissions in the region.This paper inquires the statistics annals and related literatures of Shanxi province for2007-2016,and makes a deep understanding of the energy utilization and structure of Shanxi province.Then,using IPCC calculation to calculate the carbon emissions of three energy groups in Shanxi province,we can see the overall trend of carbon emissions and the carbon emissions of each energy group.In addition,using Kaya model and LMDI factor decomposition,the driving factors of energy consumption carbon emissions in Shanxi province are divided into four parts: population,GDP per capita,energy efficiency and energy structure,and the composition of carbon emission effect is studied.The results show that:(1)Total energy consumption in Shanxi Province increased from 2.6217 million tons to 4.542 million tons,an increase of 73 percent.Among the three types of energy,coal emissions are the largest and the largest increases are also the largest,while natural gas emissions are small,but the fastest growth rate is achieved,and oil emissions are stable.Carbon emissions per capita have increased overall,with a downward trend over the past two years.(2)Using the Kaya identity model to analyze the driving factors of energy carbon emissions in Shanxi Province,energy carbon emissions in Shanxi Province are mainly affected by GDP per capita,energy efficiency,energy structure and population factors.The positive effect of population,energy structure and GDP per capita is that it can increase carbon emissions,and the effect of energy efficiency is negative,which can restrain carbon emissions.Therefore,improving energy utilization and energy structure is the most effective way to reduce carbon emissions in Shanxi province.(3)Shanxi province’s heavy task of energy conservation and emission reduction requires the concerted efforts of the government,enterprises and individuals.The government needs to realize innovation in the system.Enterprises are the mainstay of technological innovation.Individuals should start at their side.
