Supplementary Study On The Planning,the Construction And The Management Of The Zhongshan Cemetery In The Period Of The Republic Of China

As the first ritual architectural complex built under the influence of the western modern architectural thought,the openness and commemorativeness of the Zhongshan cemetery is essentially different from the traditional Chinese cemetery.The transition from the old to the new,the fusion of the eastern culture and western culture,the nationalism and the modernity in the planning and construction of the Zhongshan cemetery were all the parts of the social change of the times.The Zhongshan cemetery is a physical evidence of the transformation of the government,the cemetery institutions,the professional and technical personnel and the public which were influenced by the western modern thought.The construction and the management work of Zhongshan cemetery never stop from beginning to now.This article summarizes the the construction progress,analyzes the comprehensive planning of the Zhongshan cemetery in the historical period from 1925 to 1949.According to the research above,the role and value of the government,the cemetery institutions,the professional and technical personnel and the public in the construction progress and the comprehensive planning will be discussed.Based on the analyses above,the mechanism of the planning,construction and management will be discussed.
